This blog is intended as a forum for parents going through Child Custody disputes in Passaic, New Jersey. It is a place to share experiences. Nothing is to be construed as legal advice.
Passaic, New Jersey is unique in that Dr. Paul Dasher, who has been there "forever", is responsible for advising all the Family Court Judges who hear custody disputes. Many of the Judge's in the Passaic Vicinage regard Dr. Dasher's opinion to be more valuable than the existing body of case law on child custody, the child's input and their own legal opinion.
Dasher is a outside contractor for the County and his work is really not subject to performance appraisals or supervision. In addition to his role as the Passaic court-appointed child psychologist, Dr. Dasher receives referrals from Judges to act as a private child psychologist in custody disputes and takes in high retainers of thousands of dollars for his services. His private office is in Ridgewood, N.J. It is not known if anyone oversees whether he is taking bribes from either parent in the privacy of that office.
It is rumored that this man is a homosexual. In theory, homosexuality should not interfere with his ability to make custody decisions, but in reality, some parents may have strong feelings on this issue.
I welcome you to share your experiences in Passaic Family Court. Please let us know if your children's best interests are being protected. Let us know if "Kid's Count" in Passaic or if you feel that your children have been harmed by unfair practices, especially evaluations by Dr. Dasher. In some cases he administers the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory, a test that has been the subject of controversy amongst many experts.
I hope we can support each other with compassion and find a way to work towards any changes that may improve the lives of children.
I look forward to your input.
